Chavez: state sponsor of terrorism

Chavez

International police agency Interpol says Colombian officials did not tamper with computers they allege are proof that Venezuela financed Farc rebels.

The hard drives were purportedly seized after a raid on a rebel camp in Ecuador at the beginning of March.
[…]
Washington has confirmed it believes the files are genuine and that the implications for Venezuela, if it has supported the Farc - which is on the US and European lists of terrorist organisations - could be very serious.

Gene adds: “Seinfeld” fans will recognize the title of this post.

Will Gene be commenting on the fact that his beloved Democratic party are up to their eyeballs in cooperating with FARC?

“A Colombian anti-terrorism officer accessed the computers before they were handed over to Interpol, leaving multiple traces in operating system files, which Noble said runs against internationally accepted protocol. But Colombian authorities properly told Interpol’s experts about the episode and Noble praised their professionalism.”

What a black eye for the organization, the data was handled by an interested party before we got to it, they admit manipulation and they vouch for it? That does not make any sense…

“Noble, a former U.S. Treasury enforcement chief in his second term heading the 186-member police organization.”

Nope now it makes sense, most likely an asset…

At least the forgeries look more real after the Niger fiasco.

Nor is the inconvenient fact that Costa Rican police seized $480,000 in cash based on information found in a FARC computer.

“Nor is the inconvenient fact that Costa Rican police seized $480,000 in cash based on information found in a FARC computer.”

It is obvious that if it is a forgery they are going to sex it up in an attempt to prove it, notice it is unrelated to what they claim FARCChavez link (or Correa). They could have very well sat on this Costa Rican bit until it was convenient.

I would not bother explaining computer forensics to dumb neocons (redundant) but the mere fact that they ADMIT they bungled up the whole disk image control seriously puts Interpol’s credibility at risk by them vouching for its validity.

Granted I doubt Bush or neocons care about that. (just like they don’t care for the validity of the Niger claims).

Wall Street Journal, March 25:

A military strike three weeks ago killed Raúl Reyes, No. 2 in command of the FARC, Colombia’s most notorious terrorist group. The Reyes hard drive reveals an ardent effort to do business directly with the FARC by Congressman James McGovern (D., Mass.), a leading opponent of the free-trade deal. Mr. McGovern has been working with an American go-between, who has been offering the rebels help in undermining Colombia’s elected and popular government.

Shocking stuff Gene.

Seriously, I might not yawn if Venezuela’s accusers, such as Columbia and the USA, were not up to the necks in malfeasance past and present in South America. But, blimey, is this not the pot calling the kettle black? Going by the USA’s own thinking, shouldn’t it hand itself in for supporting a military coup against Chavez?

Mr Danger
  16 May 2008, 8:45 am

Mr Noble said that deep forensic analyses showed Colombia did not modify, delete or create any files.

The opinion of Flanker, who thinks Bush had his Reichstag burned, is relevant how? The validity of the files is one thing, the second thing is that they only vaguely, and in code, refer to the governments of Venezuela and Ecuador. Had it been a CIA/Colombia plot to stitch up Chavez, they would surely have given themselves something a little easier to work with. This logic is beyond the kind of idiots like Flanker who think 911 was an inside job.

Even less relevant is the asinine whataboutery of Benjamin. Benji, you complete and utter moron, by your logic since Chavez himself led coups he can’t very well complain if someone launches one against him, can he? Oh please do us a favor and GET A LIFE.

It is hardly surprising. After all Chavez has said very nice things about the FARC. He has said they are not a terrorist group - so only those who do not want to believe will find this hard to believe.

“I would not bother explaining computer forensics to dumb neocons “

Could this possibly be because you know nothing about the subject but want to pretend that you do, so that some dupe might find your out of hand dismissal of the evidence, verified by Interpol, to be convincing?

ami

computer forensics to dumb neocons. I trust computer forensic companies will take note and immediately insert a question in their job application forms: “Are you now or have you ever been a neocon?” If yes, this automatically declares them incompetent for this line of work.

David All

I resent the implication that neocons are by definition are too dumb to understand computer forensics. I am no neocon and do not understand them either.

Ex- CIA Agent confirms Chavez´s is a Red

It has been claimed for many years, and has been reported [1] that Chavez himself even admitted it to a close friend - that he is a socialist. I tracked down this close friend to a villa in Spain who confirmed what Chavez had said.
Isn’t that enough!

So, what’s the point in inventing hard discs of mass destruction to justify a war against Venezuela?

You’d have thought that after the propaganda disaster pursued to justify invading Iraq for its oil, neoliberals would have stuck firmly to the single big evil dictator lie no matter how ludicrous and unbelievable it is.

I don’t know why they just don’t stick to the truth in this case: Socialist mustn’t be allowed to control significant supplies of oil.

Why does the U.S. need to be involved in it at all for verification? Isn’t the credibility of Interpol enough to validate the evidence? Why does the U.S. always have to stick its nose in? Christ.
