Hizb ut Tahrir: Jokes about Gas and Jews
Back in 1996, Hizb ut Tahrir’s Khalifah magazine ran a story about a pipeline running from Egypt to Israel. Because they were writing about Israel and natural gas, a hilarious headline suggested itself:
Egypt Considers ‘Gassing’ The Jews !
Israel and Egypt are considering building a pipeline to bring natural gas from Egypt to Israel. Among companies developing the Egyptian gas fields is Amoco. At least two other U.S. companies, Brooklyn Gas and Enserch, are said to be interested in building the Israeli portion of the pipeline.
… MORE WEALTH OF THE ISLAMIC UMMAH IS TO BE HANDED OVER TO HER ENEMIES BY THE EXISTING PUPPETS.
In 1996, Hizb ut Tahrir was relatively low profile, and certainly not subject to the sort of scrutiny which it has faced over the last few years. Jokes about the Holocaust and extermination camps were safe to make.
By 2008, things had changed slightly for Hizb ut Tahrir. They had spent the last few years working hard to remove the evidence of their past genocidal racism from their websites, set up a series of front organisations to create the impression that they were respectable moderate interlocutors for ordinary Muslims, held meetings in the House of Commons and so on. Khalifah’s was also remodelled, and given a makeover.
Nevertheless, when they covered the story in a this month’s Khalifah magazine, they took the opportunity to run the “gassing” joke:
MUBARAK GASSES GAZA
A pipeline supplying Israel with Egyptian natural gas for the first time began flowing May 1, state-owned Israel Electric Corp. said. In the first stage of the deal, signed in 2005 with East Mediterranean Gas Co., the gas will be delivered to power plants in Ashdod and Tel Aviv and will enable Israel Electric to increase electricity production from natural gas. Israel will receive an annual supply of 1.7 billion cubic meters of Egyptian natural gas over 20 years. At the same time the Israeli fuel blockade of Gaza means that over 1 million remain at grave risk.
Because if you’re Hizb ut Tahrir, there’s nothing so funny as a joke about gas and Jews!

“MUBARAK GASSES GAZA”
But note the subtle change. Mubarak (and Israel) are doing the gassing, and the Palestinians are the victims. It can’t be antisemitic because its the Jews and their puppets who are the Nazis.

Existing puppets? gassing is for muppets - well, sort of, …. blank-out ….. where are we? is this a minority sport, or?

It was Clare Short. It is to the Labour Party’s eternal shame that she was ever an MP for it, but at least she’s fucked off now.

Speaking of jokes, I wish this was, but its not.
A police force has apologised to Islamic leaders for the “offensive” postcard advertising a new non-emergency telephone number, which shows a six-month-old trainee police dog named Rebel.
The German shepherd puppy has proved hugely popular with the public, hundreds of who have logged on to the force’s website to read his online training diary.
But some Muslims in the Dundee area have reportedly been upset by the image because they consider dogs to be “ritually unclean”, while shopkeepers have refused to display the advert.

A police force has apologised to Islamic leaders for the “offensive” postcard advertising…
Times change. Often sad but true. The Police should have been more ……. no, no wait, wait a minute, feck ‘em. Dogs have been an accepted part of everyday life in this here place called western civilisation. The police use dogs. The majority of people like dogs. Few rational people are offended by dogs.
Don’t apologise. It makes you look like a big blouse. Run a separate ad campaign for the “sensitive” shop keepers or better again just don’t bother.

Morgoth, you have a real problem you need to deal with - your irrational, pathological hatred of all things Muslim. Sure, there are a lot of revolting Islamists and Islamist-sympathisers around, but Islamists are only a minority, even if a fast-growing one, in the Muslim world. Stop painting all Muslims with the same brush. If you want to free the world of Islamists and Islamism, then stop trying to provoke, bully or alienate ordinary Muslims.

Hey, Imshin, you have posted in your blog the start of the movie “The Policeman Azulay” by Ephraim Kishon. Cool, I heard about it, nice to see at least this bit.
It was a flop, but I heard that it was Kishon’s best movie.

David T you need to stop living in the past. That was 1996 when HT was led by Omar Bakri - he left after and what you and Ed Husain dont understand is HT arent the same (Im not HT by the way)
No different to jokes made about Muslims and the general demonisation that happens on Harry’s Place. If this had been about Muslims David T would have been squealing “free speech” “free speech”

Albert,
I don’t have a problem.
Well, I do have a problem….with an ideology that wants to kill me. That is utterly anathema to humanity and the spirit of individualism that is within us all. With an ideology that wants to send the world back into a new dark age. If someone is willingly mentally retarded enough to completely drown their innate divine nature into “submission”, then, yes, I damn well do have a problem with that.

- well the ultra-Orthodox are at least in the 18th C - thats 1,000 years better than Islamists.

Well said, Mr Boswell…both times. Given the continued denials of the holocaust by Islamists, should their interest in the verb to gas be seen as a reiteration of the ‘fraudelent’ nature of Jewish suffering? Indeed, they are despoiling the meaning with its applied mundanity.
Well, Morgy, you do want to lock up people in camps to be ‘reprogrammed’ out of any belief before they may join the ‘Golden age of humanity’. I might suggest that your ’spirit of individualism’ is merely another form of totalising ideological position, ‘we can all be free if we are free just like you’. You are just a little coy about the inevitable bodies.
OT but Marko has a rather stunning article up on Greater Surbiton about Islamophobia and anti-semitism in the Balkans - http://greatersurbiton.wordpress.com/

Fabian from Israel, You haven’t seen Hashoter Azoulay???!
I’d say “Ta’alat Blaumilch” was Kishon’s best film, but Hashoter Azoulay is definitely his most loved. It has certain “Burekas” elements to it, if you know what that means in Israeli film terms. Hashoter Azoulay is actually a character from Taalat Blaumilch. The late great Shayke Ofir was so wonderful that Kishon built a whole film around the character.
I wasn’t aware it was a flop. Are you sure? It’s certainly lasted well for a flop. You can usually see it on TV around Independence Day time.

The 1996 edition of Khalifah post dates OBM’s departure.
HuT was not different before or after OBM left. It changed its public rhetoric, that’s all.
Took a year or two to wholly rebrand: so it was still being careless about things like this for a few years

Perhap these people get their “truth” about such issues from Middle Eastern TV stations full of Holocaust deniers.
[Galloway in English with Farsi voiceover] This has been a big step for me. This is because the news broadcast by this network is different from the news broadcast by most of news networks in the world. Many viewers in the world know that Fox News, Sky News and even the BBC do not tell them the truth. Therefore, they turn to networks such as Press TV.

off topic, I’m afraid but here is video of C Hitchens undergoing waterboarding and concluding that it is indeed torture. Irritating and pompous as he is, this kind of empirical journalism is impressive and compelling.

Hitchens wasn’t the first reporter to try this. Steve Harrigan of Fox News did it in 2006. He didn’t like it either. See the video here:

me, Zionism is a perfecty respectable nationalist movement, just like the nationalist movements that gave rise to most of the modern countries of the world.
As far as Judaism goes, its theology is disgusting and many of its practises are barbaric but it does not seek to kill or convert me. And as such, it is by far and away the most tolerable of monotheistic religions. Unlike the other monotheistic religions, which will need action to remove their vile malignacy from the demos, I hope Judaism will die peaceably off.

Like what? I can’t think of anything within Judaism that is practised wait to be shocked by your revelations.
DOH!!!!!
Just twigged it!!!! You think the killing of gentiles for their blood to make matzos and hamantashen is barbaric. How can it be, its a fundamental tenent of Judaism. We HAVE to do it!!!!! If that is what you meant then I’m not shocked.
2 July 2008, 1:12 pm

Infant mutilation, for one.
2 July 2008, 1:13 pm
Matzos are lovely, by the way, with some nice cold salted butter, some cream cheese and just a sprinkling of rock salt and crushed garlic. In fact, I’d go further and say that they’re better than cream crackers. But not as delicious as water biscuits though.
2 July 2008, 2:58 pm
Morgoth:
While I agree the ritual aspect of male infant circumcission is of no value, its health benefits are indesputable — reducing the transmission of many diseases from HIV to certain human papiloma viruses that cause cancer in the male’s female sex partner. As long as it is performed properly, under sanitary conditions, there is nothing barbaric about it.
2 July 2008, 3:36 pm

There’s nothing barbaric about mutilating an infant????????????????
What the fuck are you smoking?

Morgoth: As far as Judaism goes, its theology is disgusting and many of its practises are barbaric
Okay, so circumcision’s one thing you find barbaric. You said many - what else?
2 July 2008, 5:18 pm
Piercing your skin is barbaric. Eyelids, ear lobes, abdomen, penis, clitoris, tongue. Shall we ban them?
Maybe its ONLY something to be banned or hated because its something to do with Jews.
2 July 2008, 6:28 pm
Maven:
Not a good analogy. Piercing various body parts for reasons that are purely cosmetic is a form of self-mutilation and one that often results in all sorts of nasty infections and prevents the spread/incubation of none. Male circumcission, on the other hand, does figure in as a reduced risk of a number of diseases.
But you are right about it being contraversial because it is associated with Jews. Possibly, if it was better known that Muslims also practice male circumcission, but on young adolescent males instead of infants, condeming it would lose a lot of its cachet.
2 July 2008, 7:11 pm
Lynne T
“But you are right about it being contraversial because it is associated with Jews. Possibly, if it was better known that Muslims also practice male circumcission, but on young adolescent males instead of infants, condeming it would lose a lot of its cachet.”
Give us a break -Halal and Schenia slaughetr are identical- yet the fuss was in the papers over Halal only- likwise “non-intergrated” Muslims vs Stamford Hill Hasidic Jews.
2 July 2008, 7:14 pm
David T’s lamabsting HT is more than a little hypocritical
Eva Figes says when she and her holocaust survivor parents went to Israel the zionists would call them “bars of soap”
“They even discussed building a second dining hall so they wouldn’t have to eat with us, the sabonim. That’s what they called us: sabonim, nothing but bars of soap. Because the Germans are supposed to have made soap out of Jewish corpses.”
So why is it acceptable for jews to make these comments, about which David T is silent and not gentiles?
Imagine if a gentile made any of these comments:
Edith was visibly upset, so I kept quiet for a while. But, I began timidly, I thought the whole point of Israel was to provide a fresh start for Nazi victims – a homeland for those with nowhere to go. Edith shook her head.
“They despised us,” she stammered, searching for words. “Treated us as though we were scarcely human. Human dust, they called us. I was actually told, more than once, that I had only myself to blame for everything that had happened to me during the war. I should have left Europe, answered the call of Zion, long ago. You brought it on yourselves, we were told – degenerates, the lot of you. Servile shopkeepers, traders, alienated from the land that was yours to claim.
“Some of them even claimed that Hitler had been sent as a punishment. There were remarks about our physique: pale, unhealthy, not fit for the work needed, either to plough the soil or defend it against the enemy. Goebbels had been right to portray us the way he did . . . ”

me:
I don’t know the particulars of the case you cite, but here in Canada, when the subject is ritual slaughter, kashruth and halal get equally bad press. But while I have heard plenty of bitching about Jewish ritual circumcission of males, the only comment I have ever heard about Muslim ritual circumcission of males was from a Turkish-born co-worker who was talking about her Turkish-born husband’s painful experience, and both are in their mid-30s.
2 July 2008, 11:52 pm
Imshin, let’s see - Kosher Slaughter, Beth Din, in fact the whole belief system in an external divinity is barbaric.
Maven, you CHOOSE to pierce an ear, penis, and so on. Infants can’t choose.
3 July 2008, 4:11 am
Morgoth, Beth Din? That’s a bit vague. Everything that happens within a Jewish religious court is barbaric? You would be right to call some decisions discriminative of women, but not violent. (Are you aware that the Sanhedrin, the Jewish high court in Roman times was so abhorrent of the death penalty that if a Sanhedrin pronounced a death sentence even once in seventy years it was referred to as a “Killing Sanhedrin”.)
I’d say the regular, everyday orgy of violence and pornography (much of it paedophelia) western secular culture feeds on is far more barbaric than today’s Jewish practises on the whole.
You also said: its theology is disgusting. Disgusting is a very strong word. What is disgusting to you? You may not believe in what Jews believe in, and no one is asking you to, unless you are a Jew yourself, and even then no one is forcing you, as you say - but disgusting?
Is the idea of a power bigger than you in the world disgusting? Is the idea of a day a week given over to peace and worship disgusting? Is the idea that one is responsible for ones actions in front of God disgusting? Is the idea that one must give charity and look out for ones fellow man disgusting? Is prayer disgusting? Is studying an ancient book of wisdom disgusting?
Perhaps what you find so repulsive is the idea that Jews believe they are a distinct people with specific additional responsibilities towards the God they believe is the one God. Is that it?

Brilliant! You don’t realise just how thick you expose yourself as. First of all Judaism is exclusively the religion of Jews. By what you have previously commented its obvious you are an Antisemite Grade A.
Second “you people”!
