Which side?

With George Galloway off in Tehran celebrating the first anniversary of one of his many sources of income, I hope it’s not impolite to remind him that he (as an employee of the Iranian government-funded Press TV) is part of the same communications network that produced the following.

The first is the latest in a series of reports on Zionist/Jewish control of Hollywood. It turns out that not only “Chicken Run” is full of insidious Zionist propaganda, but so is “Saving Private Ryan,” directed by “the Jewish Steven Spielberg.”

memri-ryan.JPG

The second, in essence, treats “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” as a genuine document which accurately describes the behavior and activities of the Jews to this day.

memri-protocols.JPG

Now I suppose if Galloway saw the above clips, his default reaction would be to shout: “It’s an Israeli website… It’s an Israeli translation.” But after the shouting stopped, he would still face the moral dilemma of taking money from, and lending his name to, an Iranian government operation which produces such poisonous stuff.

So my question to Galloway– and even more urgently to those who continue to associate with him politically– is the one from the old union organizing song: which side are you on?

[Galloway in English with Farsi voiceover] This has been a big step for me. This is because the news broadcast by this network is different from the news broadcast by most of news networks in the world. Many viewers in the world know that Fox News, Sky News and even the BBC do not tell them the truth. Therefore, they turn to networks such as Press TV.

Can’t get much clearer than that.

That of the highest-paying dictator. I thought this was clear.

Galloway and moral dilemma in the same sentence. That’s rich.

A terrorist from East Jerusalem drove a bulldozer into a stream of traffic on Jerusalem’s Jaffa Road this afternoon, crushing cars, overturning a bus, and sowing pain and panic into the lives of dozens of people.
As Rescue workers rushed more than 40 injured victims to local area hospitals, a frantic search was underway for the parents of a baby girl believed to have been thrown from her parents’ car moments before it was crushed by the bulldozer.

Reporting from Sha’are Tzedek Hospital where the baby is being treated, OneFamily Field Worker Mindee Levinger says that the body of the baby’s mother has just been identified. Rescue workers believe the father to be dead as well. The baby’s grandparents are on their way to the hospital to be with her.

Gene,
You’re right, but its not as if they haven’t had it pointed out to them.

Remember the idiots who pumped out claims that the Iraq Oil documents were forgeries?

Well all the time George knew what they were as he’d had his own expert look at them.

Last year I was posting that George would fuck off the SWP, head off with the Jamaat and back Abjol Miah for Bethnal seat.
They even discussed it in the Central Committee for gods sake.
Yet they were surprised when George’s locksmith turned up.
(OK I got that wrong, I thought it would be a mysterious break in)

Now the ever declining bunch who treat him seriously as a politician can’t see that they’re running around boosting his media profile and earning ability.
They expect him to stand at the next election.
Oh dear.

Galloway is no laughing matter. But no suprises that this racist, sycophantic demagogue has gone off to join Tehran’s anti-Semitic circus and finds himself on the same VIP list as David Duke of the Ku Klux Klan. Joe Strummer once lamented: ‘if Adolf Hitler flew in today, they’d send a limosine anyway’. And we know who the cap-doffing, boot-licking chauffer would be don’t we.

spgb_grey,

I realise that as a politico you have difficulty with this notion but try please: make an effort to render my comments accurately.

I have not stated anything concerning the capitalist system merely pointed out the bleeding obvious that the working classes of Clapham Battersea and Stockwell have ignored the SPGB, which should be painfully obvious to even an insular politico?

those areas have traditionally (until the recent gentrification and vefore) been solidly working-class areas and yet the SPGB makes comparatively little or no impact into the lives of the working classes of south London, this is a fact.

So instead of discussing the terribly important SPGB, Galloway and Tehran beckons

One reason SW London workers dont flock to the SPGB is because they dont agree with us. Fair enough. The massive anti socialist propaganda everyday has slightly less import of course

modernity

SPGB_gray,

I’ll tell you why the south London working-class don’t flock to spgb, because you come over like shifty politico’s

now I appreciate you won’t understand this, so I’ll explain slowly:

when you conversed with a shifty politico (and this applies largely to religious cranks, culties or the Moonies), you noticed one particular trait:

they ignore what you say to them, and carry on regardless

that applies to you as well as SWPers, Respecter, etc or other political loons

the above dialogue was an example, I make the point:

“please, let’s ignore the SPGB, as the working classes of Clapham, Battersea and Stockwell have for generations”, etc

you reply:

“defend the capitalist system Modernity? Tell lies about what socialism is? Of course….you do it daily”

I state:

“I have not stated anything concerning the capitalist system merely pointed ….”

you go on:

“here’s a thing for you. let’s have a truthful discussion about Russia and Lenin. Let’s have the media call China China instead of “Communist” China. How about you try telling the truth for a change? You dont and wont. “

So what happens is, you make a comment to a politico and you get a non sequitur as a reply

and that’s a bit annoying, instead of simply saying “sorry I didn’t mean to misrepresent you” or “I misundertood you, sorry” they often go off at a tangent, with little relevance to the original subject.

that’s part of the reason that the working-class don’t take to politicos, be it the SWP, SLL, SWP, IMG. ISG, RCP, CPGB, CPGB (ML), Respect or Renewal, plus any other of the alphabetical soup, including New Labour and the SPGB.

until you talk with people, and not at you’ll be largely ignored

not that you’ll understand or acknowledge anything I wrote, but still

Fabian, I just want to know if there have been any reports from the terrorists family. Are they gloating in the Palestinian press about how proud they and their friends and neighbor are? Did they hand out candy to the neighborhood kids to celebrate the slaughter of Jews? Trading cards with his picture, so more kids will grow up (slightly) with him as their hero, to run off and slaughter more? Did they hold a party? Are they getting paid by the Saudis or perhaps from European aid in recognition of their contribution?

Off topic. but can I point out a possible cutural reason for the dumb ‘Chicken Run’ claim? (Not that I want to defend Iranian media but …)

Brits and other Anglophones were brought up on the Ripping Yarn adventures of POWs escaping from German POW camps, and ‘Chicken Run’’s premise depends on this cultural background. If you didn’t have this background, a WWII prison camp theme would inevitably suggest the Holocaust.

I put a valid point. You say the working class ignore the SPGB and I say one reason is because there is not an open discussion about socialism. As a kid I was always told to piss off back to Russia, which is really stupid as I am not Russian and the KGB say would probably have put me in prison because I was talking of socialism. Where do you think that reflex “go back to Russia” derives from? The USA is called the USA, not Capitalist USA, but China or Cuba is called Communist China or Communist Cuba on a regular basis. There is a deliberate use of a word. That blatant propaganda doesn’t even stop when the media talks of Chinese millionaires and free market capitalism in the land. It is capitalis yet they still say Communist China

“Fabian, I just want to know if there have been any reports from the terrorists family”

Yes. Yesterday when they went to his house to find his father, he said that he was the last person to do something like this and that is was terrible, bla bla. When the policemen were taking him away, a woman in the house started chanting a praise for the shahid.
I read it yesterday in one newspaper but I couldn’t find it today.

If Shin Bet have anything to do with it, Fabian, she just might. Well, at least you’ll be happy, you terrorist, you. Its rather strange that Israeli policy is to demolish the house of the family of criminals like this - or at least that is what the prime minister and defence minister want to do. Another act of collective punishment. What possible justification is there for doing that?

TheIrie
  3 July 2008, 12:33 pm

Can anyone begin to imagine what would happen if an Iranian newspaper carried this story, talking about Iranian policy rather than Israeli policy? The article is not about what to do if there is another war - its about what Israel should do in the next war, which its seems is inevitable. It is almost unbelievable how much Israel wants to go to war - and no-one in the mainstream seems particularly worried about this.

I think the idea behind it has to do witht the fact that throughout the early stages of the second intifada a suicide bombers family could expect to recieve about $20,000 from the Saudis, roughly the same amount from Saddam Hussein, priviledges from the PA - and possibly other economic benefits from Arab states and organisations. This is big money in the occupied territories.

With this system in place suicide bombing did become a business, the shahid gets into heaven and his or her family benefited as well. I think demloshing the houses of suicide bombers is meant to mitigate the financial incentive to murder.

I may be wrong.
