What, no cash?

The dwindling band of George Galloway fans were pretty excited by his announcement on 17 January that he would be standing for the position of Rector of Edinburgh University.

That is a very good press release. Good on Galloway chirped ‘Anticapitalista’ in the comments box of the Socialist Unity blog.

Does he ever rest! asks Andy Newman, the proprietor.

Hope he wins, it will really piss off the neo cons! exclaims Green Socialist.

Sadly, today brings news that the not normally publicity shy Comrade Galloway has decided to drop out of the race for the post.

But why?

“Anyone who knows me, knows that I don’t do anything half-heartedly and I really wouldn’t have been able to spend the time I would have wanted in Edinburgh,”  said Galloway.

Maybe, comrade, maybe.

Or perhaps, there’s another reason…

The rectorship is an unpaid post with a period of office of three years.

George clearly isn’t as gullible as some of his followers.

He is an ass-clown.

George took a few soundings and realised he was being laughed at and had no chance of winning.

Its becoming a bit of a pattern.

Heres another nonsense story.

I suspect its a all a preamble to him pulling out of standing at the next election.

It must be all the work he puts in at Westminster.

Good. His selection for position of rector would have made a laughing stock of this, or any other, university.

Just going for it, gave Galloway a bit of free publicity.

Perhaps he mistook the position of “rector” with that of “rectum”?

He was nobbled by dirty tricks from the Je… oops, Zionist Neocon lobby.

O Graham, the late-and-greatly-missed Peter Ustinov made the lame joke about rector and rectum; when he was rector at St. Andrews he received a missive addressed to the ‘Lord Rectum’ and mentioned the fact incessantly.

Looking at Gorgeous George’s parliamentary activities, he ain’t that bad really. He was never an apologist for the I.R.A., unlike a couple of MPs who can be named.

As a casual watcher-voyeur of Press TV, I’d like George to have his very own TV channel; and I’d like the BNP to have a channel, too.

Comment?

Did anyone see Galloway interview Dicky Seymour on de-Press TV about his book “Liberal Defence of Murmur”?

Katy et al: how do you create a link with a phrase that is not the URL?
Thanks.

Tim,
I do wish he would stand against Martin. We’d have 2 useless jokes contesting the same seat … should be hilarious.

Martin will stand down at the next election.
It was just self publicity by Galloway.

I’m disappointed, I was hoping to see him get humiliated by the vote. Then again, the thick students may well have voted him in

Lol………Fucking hilarious.

Maybe because the university was reluctant to give publicity to the Miriam appeal during the oil for food scam raised the gorgeous ones ire.

No – Ron Davies, the hero of Clapham Common and the Public Conveniences at Tog Hill has announced he is standing as an “independant” member for Wales in the EU elections next June.

Or as is said locally in Caerphilly and Bargoed ” I will be buggered if I vote for Davies!

Galloway, Ahmed and Kaufmann – trifecta of radical idiocy at Pakistan’s High Commission in London this week, for “Kashmir Solidarity Day” no less.

Any jihad will do.

He said he was looking forward to a new era to re-raise the banner of Kashmir in the British public life.

“The coming years will see renaissance in Kashmir issue in UK and there will be renewed efforts to see Kashmir get justice and their legitimate rights.”

Galloway who is leading London to Gaza convoy next week to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, said both the people of Kashmir and Palestine face similar problems.

Tremble, India, before the mighty George and Co.

efforts to see Kashmir get justice

does George have an innovative diplomatic solution for this notoriously intractable issue as well then?

To go along with Mark T’s link, here’s a neat little video showing you how to do it.

Seeing the immediate mirth coupled with distaste that any mention of George Galloway causes to most people, I would wonder that the voters of Bethnall Green are not somewhat wondering if George is making a laughing stock of them too.

Good point about Galloway’s ‘well below average’ performance in the day job Katy. I’ve edited the post to link to his dismal Westminster voting and attendance record.

I posted a comment earlier on ‘Socialist Unity’ pointing out that Galloway pulled out of the election, and also on the folly of relying on Gorgeous’ word after the Christopher Dreyfus fiasco.

For some reason, my comment got deleted.

I can’t help noticing that out of three blogs – this one, ‘Socialist Unity’ and the one run by that twat Seymour – this is the only place where freedom of speech (at least in the virtual/cyber sense) is actually practiced.

USA Grosbank IN KRIZE
