BNP calls for ‘National Day of Prayer’

The BNP has produced a new leaflet which it wants supporters to print off and place in churches. In the continuing saga of the BNP trying to present itself as Britain’s ‘pro-Christian’ Party, this time it launches an attack on what it calls ‘Judas Archbishops’ and calls for a ‘National Day of Prayer’:

The Church of England has consistently failed to live up to its sacred role as guardian of the soul of the British people. For this reason, it falls to us in the British National Party to call for a ‘National Day of Prayer’. We urge everyone who loves Britain to pray for our national deliverance from the difficulties in which we currently find ourselves.

But pray to who? No ‘god’ is named, but given the Christian emphasis we can safely assume prayers will be directed in the name of a Jewish teacher who reportedly spent time as an asylum seeker. Of course, the BNP’s idea of what constitutes Christianity is somewhat different to what the mainstream denominations teach, as Seismic Shock and I have previously noted.

Despite an overwhelmingly negative view of the Church today

The British National Party invites dialogue with church leaders. The massive support enjoyed by our party requires that the Church of England grow up, respect our mandate and engage us appropriately.

Ah, yes, we’ve seen that kind of ‘respect‘ for mandates and ‘appropriate engagement‘ before, haven’t we?

This latest ‘Christian’ initiative from the BNP has gone down well with some of its members, as the comments section on its website shows. Here are a few gems:

Artorius:

The Archdhimmi always has been a pro-Marxist surrender-monkey:

“Williams took part in anti-nuclear demonstrations at United States bases. In 1985, he was arrested for singing psalms as part of a protest organized by the Committee for Nuclear Disarmament at Lakenheath, an American air base in Suffolk; his fine was paid by his college.”

sam77o7uk:

This is one of the best ideas from the British National Party that I’ve heard of ever…

With God on our side we will not be the Losers…

Rev. K. Warrington:

Canterbury and York are in the service of the Antichrist!

Rise up all you good men and women! Rise up against these agents of Satan!

Stand with the British National Party!

Stand – Men Of The West!

Unitar7:

The Archbishops are not Christians, they are souless, mechanistic, marxoid atheists who have stabbed their Saviour in the back!
You don’t have to be a Christian to understand what spirituality means. I am what most people would understand to be a Pagan. That is, nature is my ‘god’. But most parish Christians are good and decent folk, and like me they feel in their hearts that a creative force is behind all life and existence.
Not so the traitor Archbishops in the pay of dark and destructive unnatural forces.
The sword of truth awaits them!

UPDATE:

BNP spokesman and legal adviser Lee Barnes has his say:

The Church of England is a vile organisation, infested with pederasts who are protected by Bishops and priests from prosecution and riddled with Marxists who worship Che Guevara instead of Jesus Christ and Marx instead God [sic].

The leadership know all too well in what low regard they’re held by the Church, so this gesture is little more than a crass ploy to get supporters to pester the local parson.

Dialogue is surely a good idea though. For all His Grace’s faults, he possesses a supreme intellect and could persuade some of the more cerebral members of the BNP that racialism is not Christian.

Although I’m an atheist, his Grace as the ruler of a parish of the national church, which legally includes me, has no right to speak on my behalf in advocating the adoption of any aspect of Shariah law in England.

When they call it a “National” Day of Prayer, the “National” is a giveaway. Anyone else would just call it a Day of Prayer. But “National” is their party name, their brand name, innit?

The BNP’s Christianity is so British, nice to see the BNP aren’t allying themselves with Italian Catholic ultra-nationalist fascists or anything…

And isn’t Lee John Barnes an Odinist, and hates Christianity? Surely the BNP would have to be a rather liberal, ecumenical church itself to accept LJB as a fellow worshipper.

colin

I’m not talking about the BNP take on the national church – there is no British national church. I’m talking about me as an Englander. I may choose or not choose to return to my national church. In the meanwhile, I resent the national church leader adopting the mores of other religions, for PC purposes.

Any Jew who has attended a synagogue will know that there is a standard prayer for the health and wisdom of the Royal Family, The Government and its ministers.

I have been to a synagogue in the USA where they fly the Stars & Stripes and Israeli flags. They do the standard allegiance to the (USA) flag with hand on heart stuff.

Seems like Jews are more patriotic (or at least patriotic) as the CofE.

You can pray all you like, BNP, but look at the facts: asylum-seeker is the least of it. His mother thought he was God, he thought his mother was a virgin, he lived at home till he was gone 30 and went into his dad’s business, all of which suggests that Yoshky (Jesus) was a yiddisher boychik through and through…

Anyway four more days to find someone principled who believes in social justice and equality to vote for, in order to keep the fascist scum out.

I admit I was taking a bit of a liberty by equating the ABofC statements and general impression that he isn’t a staunch supporter of the country, or putting the wishes of the country before some of his wacky ideas like Shariah.

Of course, I haven’t factored the congregations and accept that my comment was a bit generalist and a bit tongue-in-cheek.

It was also a sly dig at those who claim that Jews are more loyal to Israel than Britain/USA.

Guilty by association I’m afraid. In this thread you quite rightly pointed out that Gates of Vienna is an Islamophobic site, sympathetic to far-right parties including Vlaams Belang and the BNP. However, whilst you personally didn’t link to an extreme leftist site, you mysteriously passed over Seismic Shock’s linking to Occupied London…I wonder why?

2)All I did was parady Lee Barnes’ stupid remarks. To say the Church of England worships Karl Marx is every bit as stupid as saying all BNP members worship Adolf Hitler.

Good for you. Lee Barnes is one loopy individual with fascist sympathies, deserving of parody and mockery at every opportunity.

I will say this though, whilst you might consider the far left to be the lesser of two evils…any members of the far left who came stomping through my town with their revolutionary agenda and contempt for authority would meet an untimely end on the tines of my pitchfork along with the fascists/nazis.

I have no problem with this and will act accordingly. The difficulties in which we currently find ourselves include a mob of nasty fascists trying to create areas in which boot boys can operate unopposed.

Rather reminds me of passing a church in February 2003 where they were holding a peace vigil in opposition to the impending Iraq war. I dropped in to add my own prayers for peace following the complete stuffing of Saddam.

To my surprise, he doesn’t sport the standard BNP no-brain-cells-in-’ere-guv shaven bonce, but a rather stylish cut. Nor is his moustache the full Hitler, but a fairly standard one, whereas below the mouth he sports a kind of reverse Hitler, a thin strip in the centre from the bottom lip to the chin, suggesting that his chin has had somebody’s arse wiped on it. What a cutie. I dare say he’ll do wonders in picking up (sic) the gay vote.

People say the BNP are bigotted backward scum, but I actually think they’re not that bad. Nick Griffin is clearly eager to promote opportunities for people with mental health problems, as seen in the candidates representing the BNP. He’s also doing his best to rehabilitate hardcore criminals by employing those with serious convictions who presumably wouldn’t be accepted anywhere else. Same with his protection of those with paedo-leanings, like Collett. He is a big liberal softie really. That Mark Collett should give up trying to fuck underage girls,
That Richard Barnbrook should rediscover his aptitude for making homosexual pornography,

I also pray for the continued confusion and infighting amongst fascists, and the hope that one day they will all glass, stab or bludgeon themselves to death, thus leaving the 99.5% of normal humanity in this country to get on with their lives without having to worry about brownshirt filth.

My dad was an osteopath.

Actually, they are not the same as chiropractors. Whereas osteopaths learn “manipulation” to ease back and other joint pain–a method now fully accepted by the medical establishment in the States–they also get the full rest of medical training, in the same four years as MDs, with specialists, as well. Chiropractors don’t. Manipulation is all they know.

In fact, sometime back in the 1970s or 1980s, the AMA (American Medical Association) invited the Osteopathic association to combine with them, with osteopaths being able to use the “MD” designation (instead of “DO). Much to my father’s frustration, the Osteopathic association refused, opting to maintain their own organization.

As I said, osteopaths in the USA get full medical training, plus the manipulation training which, I understand, MDs can also get. There isn’t much difference between the two, if any. My dad operated as a normal GP.

Maybe it’s different in Britain. But I have heard that, in parts of the Midwest, osteopaths are the norm among GPs.
