More On That Galloway Article

George Galloway, who is employed by the Islamic Republic’s Press TV, claims:

[Ahmadinejad] lives like them, looks like them – he’s never worn a suit since becoming president

Wrong.

Here he is, last week:
250nijadap

From Haaretz.

So we’ve established the accuracy of that assertion.

What about this:

I’ve said many times that Ahmadinejad’s comments about the Holocaust are a disgrace.

I’m glad to hear that.

Now, can anybody find me a few examples of these “many times”. Here’s google.

What an ignorant no nothing fool george Galloway is.

A SUIT AND AN OPEN KNECKED SHIRT IS THE UNIFORM OF AN IRANIAN ISLAMIST.

Has been since before 1979 (showing I always thought, rather neatly, how Islamism is a modernist political rendering of ‘traditional’ Islam).

What a moron.

That’s it. He needs to be defeated in the next general election. If anyone here is in his constituency, when does the campaign start? I’m willing to volunteer to help. What party is most likely to be able to beat him?

xyzzy

He needs to be defeated in the next general election.

He needed to be defeated in the last general election. He stood idly by (to be charitable) or actively encouraged (to be cynical) a racist and anti-semitic communitarian campaign, which left poor Oona King fighting the most appalling invective. Presumably because anti-semitism is now pretty much de rigeur on the left these days people who usually manage to find racism in everyday language suddenly went deaf, and the tossers who now form UAF were in favour of the racist filth because on this occasion it was their racist filth (Respect, their fellow-traveller SWP front organisation) who were spewing the bile.

Is there a left-wing British organisation which isn’t a front for virulent anti-semites? Labour are cosy with the Muslim extremists, SWP are obviously anti-semitic, who’s left?

I see the “opposition” in Iran is circulating a patently bogus letter purporting to come from the Interior Ministry and proving that Ahmadinejad came third.

This is turning into a classic power struggle between bourgeois factions. Ordinary people have no interest in supporting either Ahmadinejad or Mousavi.

When the Iranian working class strikes in its own class interests, as they have done in recent times, that will be a different matter.

The gorgeous one is not defending his present seat but is standing in the neighbouring constituency, Poplar and Canning Town. The incumbent is Labour’s Jim Fitzpatrick, recently appointed Enviroment minister and the one most likely to beat GG. Jim’s not the worst of the New Labour lot, I first met him as a Left activist in the Fire Brigades Union and he’s sound on Islamism .The greater worry is that GG will split the working class vote and let the Tories in. Indeed the Tories have listed Poplar as a key marginal. Jim is our only dog in this fight

“The man presents 6 hours of live radio a week. He has said it on that medium a number of times.”

“a number of times”. How big a number of times, as a matter of interest? Any audio evidence, Mr Not Lazy Journalist?

Nothing here, for instance:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=galloway+amadinejad+holocaust&aq=f

or here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Emk80fUzQKc

George has presented news on Press TV quite a few times. Any evidence, do you even assert, he has criticized Ahmadinejad’s views of the Holocaust there?

“The man presents 6 hours of live radio a week. He has said it on that medium a number of times…The blogosphere has created thousands of lazy wannabe journalists, whose sole idea of research is sitting in their bedroom, staring at a computer, and relying on Google & Wikipedia…Its lazy.”

Actually, what’s lazy is your making an assertion and providing no evidence for it.

And even you seem to implicitly admit Galloway has written no such thing.

So, Mr Hard Working Journalist, since you’re so not lazy, start digging and produce some evidence.

sackcloth and ashes
  18 June 2009, 2:51 pm

‘He needs to be defeated in the next general election’.

AFAIK, he won’t even be standing for re-election at Bethnall Green and Bow.

‘The man presents 6 hours of live radio a week. He has said it [condemned Ahmadinejad's Holocaust Denial] on that medium a number of times’.

So presumably you could verify this by providing a quote and a date. And maybe he would have demonstrated his opposition to such anti-Semitic propaganda by refusing to broadcast on any station which propagated Holocaust Denial (e.g. Press TV) or to associate with or praise any organisation which did the same (Hamas or Hezbollah).

Err … look down, John. I think you’ll find that you’re bereft of legs to stand on.

‘If Mousavi gets into power, and carries on with (or accelerates) Iran’s nuclear program just as he said he would, how long before the Zionists of Harry’s Place turn on him?’

Wow, anyone who stands for free and fair elections is a ‘Zionist’ now? And if you are going to indulge in Jew-hatred, darling, you might want to think about how appropriate your moniker is.

He normally dresses like your average grandad: Elasticated trousers from an advert from the back of the Daily Express, beige sports jacket from an advert from the back of the Daily Express, imitation leather shoes with Velcro straps from an advert in the Reader’s Digest (which were cheaper than the Daily Express ones). But without a walking stick and white flat cap.

I think he does it deliberately. You take one look at his little frame and his ludicrous get-up and think, Ah, look at that nice old senile-looking man. Let me help him across the road and offer to fetch his shopping for him. As opposed to – after hearing one of his speeches and examining his personal history and beliefs – Sweet fuck, this poisonous little turd is a complete and utter bastard.

I dislike Galloway muchly. BUT I saw him angrily and passionately take a Holocaust denier to task the other day on his show.

‘It is an insult to Rosa’s memory that such ignorant canker such as yourself somehow deign to use her name. Fuck you, you wee vanguardist shite nugget’

Couldn’t have put it better myself. Fuck off, you pseudo-leftist, shit-eating, moronic little troll. Go and log on to Lenin’s Tomb and frig yourself over Seymour’s apologias for theocracy.

Galloway clearly regards Holocaust Denial as disgraceful and even thinks we should have laws against. It took me about 10 seconds to find the youtube link below – seems it takes very little to be more thorough than the poster ‘Lucy Lips’.

As I don’t intend to waste more time dealing with such sloppy smearers I’ll leave you with these words of wisdom:

RE: “Galloway on a number of occasions on his radio show has said that he is not a supporter of the Iranian regime…”

He says he wouldn’t have voted for Hamas either. At least Yvonne Stockholm-Syndrome was more honest, saying she’d have voted for them like a shot. No, I don’t think Galloway is a Holocaust-denier, just a friend and supporter of Holocaust-deniers.

Hey Rosa Luxemburg,

They just found your corpse in a hospital in Berlin. I never knew you had a gammy leg.

JW,

thanks for demonstrating yet again the difficulty with finding any evidence that Galloway has specifically criticised Ahmadinejad’s Holocaust denial anywhere until now, least of all when he was being paid by A.’s government for presenting on PressTV.

“I dislike Galloway muchly. BUT I saw him angrily and passionately take a Holocaust denier to task the other day on his show.”

I’m not denying Galloway has not criticised Holocaust denial. I’m saying he seems to have been rather circumspect about it wrt Ahmadinejad, especially on PressTV.

“Galloway on a number of occasions on his radio show has said that he is not a supporter of the Iranian regime…”

Actually, I haven’t found evidence for this. I have heard Galloway say he is not a spokesperson/representative/apologist for the current regime. I don’t recall him ever saying that he didn’t support it.

“Go and log on to Lenin’s Tomb and frig yourself over Seymour’s apologias for theocracy.”

Actually there is much more diversity than that. Johng is arguing this is a genuine working class revolution. Seymour is more circumspect. But they are all employing their brand of Marxist theory to exegise events as what they would have predicted was bound to happen all along, given the right data, and, consequently, should Ahmadinejad fall or be decisively dented, what they supported all along (more or less).

A bit like church council, in fact.

I still contend that, 30 years ago in Dundee, of Galloway had got off with a jewish girl instead of some palestinian he would be living in settlement in Judea and Samaria. He is full of shit.

of course Galloway must regret the holocaust, he wouldn’t be part of the british left without it. The still unanswered question is what is his opinion of Ahmedinejad’s holocaust denial.

So jw, are you saying that if GG’s bezzie mate A-d came to the UK and started spouting Holocaust denial, GG thinks he should be prosecuted? Right … if you say so.

GG knows you can’t get away with holocaust denial and does his best to teach his Jew hating target-audience how to be more effective Jew haters in British society.

Oona Queen was a crap oponent for Galloway. This is what happens when you appoint on a quota system. Labour needs to learn from this PC mistake. Incidently King uses her tenuous links with her ancestry when it suits her only. She once described Gaza as like the Warsaw ghetto, implying what ? Crap candidate, result inevitable.

Ahmadinejad seldom wears a suit, mostly it’s a spandex leotard in Islamic green, because just like Galloway he’s a man of the people.

L’cha’im – Galloway is a historical relic. Consign him to the dustheap instead of writing about him.

His Muslim constituents love him but they may choose someone else next time who has less entertainment value.

Trust Neil Clark to more loathsome than Galloway. Our old friend has been celebrating the Ahmadinejad result over the last few days, but has not even bothered to condemn the Iranian over Holocaust Denial. Doubtless an oversight.

He has though referred to the Holocaust in the past, which for someone of his ilk is rather surprising.

Gert’s daughter – No George saying how disgraceful Ahmadinejad is.
Poor George. He doesn’t know which way to jump. You have to feel for the fellah, he mustn’t say the wrong thing or he’ll be out of a job again.

Strangely no.

I don’t feel for him at all.

He was, is and always will be, an ass.
