‘Anti-gay’ cleric talk cancelled
Earlier this month I wrote about the LGBT Students who took on London’s City University ISOC who had invited a hate-preacher who supported the killing of gay people. Alas, the talk went ahead.
Now I’m pleased to see, as the BBC reports, that University College London Union “has cancelled a talk by an Islamic preacher who allegedly endorses killing homosexuals.”
Good.

What’s with the “allegedly”?

“A London university union has cancelled a talk by an Islamic preacher who allegedly endorses killing homosexuals.
Abu Usamah, recorded by Channel 4 saying gay people should be “thrown off a mountain”, was due at University College London Union (UCLU) next week.”
As noted, it’s not ‘allegedly’, it’s what he said. The only ‘context’ it could be placed in is his other comment thus: “If I was to turn around and I was to call homosexuals perverted, dirty filthy dogs that should be murdered, that’s my freedom of speech isn’t it?”
Of course, it isn’t his freedom of speech, it’s incitement to murder. And the ‘if i were to say’ figleaf is nothing more than that.
The refusal of the CPS and police to take action against Abu Usamah is an ongoing disgrace. They have effectively given the nod to incitement to murder of homosexuals. But then that’s modern day liberal diversity for you – throw gay people under the bus for the sake of their twisted notion of multiculturalism.
Well done Peter Tatchell and other campaigners who brought about this turn around. It would be nice if the heat could be turned on the CPS next. The CPS should be purged and the police and lawyers concerned should be prosecuted and jailed for perverting the course of justice. Unfortunately the CPS are unlikely to prosecute their own officials. The law of the land doesn’t apply to them, it appears.

Jolly good.
On foreign preachers of hate, I know exactly the next three places to start.
With the signatories to the Project for the New American Century, and the Patrons of the Henry Jackson Society.
With those American and other ecclesiastics who have expressed racist views about Africans and others who do not share their liberal sexual morality.
And with Hans Küng, whose disparagement of the late Pope John Paul II’s Polishness made and make them the authentic voice of the age-old Teutonic racism against the Slavs; Küng only gets away with it because he is Swiss.

What a ridiculous post. Which of those speakers have advocated the killing of British citizens and been invited to speak at a British university?

The first lot have certainly have certainly done rather more than merely “advocate” the former, and all three have done the latter on many occasions.
I admit that this would treat any of them as if they still mattered, which they don’t. But it’s the principle.

David Lindsay: wtf are you on about?? Even by your standards this is incoherent raving. what exactly is it the “former” have done more than merely advocate?
What has HJS done that constitutes the latter?
Never mind all these formers and latters; proper details, proper instances, do buck up man.

>A university spokeswoman said: “UCLU has decided to cancel this event due to concerns that the health and safety criteria cannot be met.”<
Un-bloody-believable.

Isn’t Homophobia just an idea and less violent than Islamophobia. How many wars did Homophobia began?

Homophobia actually exists, the other term is just old-fashioned racism dressed up to silence criticism

The people who knowingly invited this rabble rouser should be named, shamed, and put through the wringer.

How is homophobia “less violent”. it’s ben standard round the world for many centuries. It’s only in recent decades that in the west it has been tempered to some degrees. In many Muslim countires, state violence against homosexuals is still the order of the day. How many “gay countries” have persecuted Muslims? ZERO.
Finally, what on earth are you talking about anyway? Abu Usamah has incited the murder of homosexuals. No homosexuals have incited the murder of Abu Usamah or of other Muslims. Why are you trying to muddy the waters?

Don’t often find myself in agreement with David Lindsay, but good call on Hans Kung.
A nasty man and a fraud.

Stanislaw, some people here don’t try to muddy the waters, they are just naturally stupid :(

Abu Usama has form. Apart from the repellent comments reported by C4, he has also been reported as recommending al-Awlaki to his followers.
Well done Peter Tatchell and others for stopping this hate preacher.

In the name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Islamic Society of City University are holding an event on Wednesday the 9th of December addressing the articles and comments written by the City Inquirer and hurryupharry. Invited speakers will explain the Muslims beliefs regarding the homosexual and his punishment in this life and the next, women being “deficient,” Christians and Jews spending eternity in the Hell-Fire along with principles and foundations that all Muslims adhere to. All university students and staff are more than welcome to attend.

Abdullaah

How in this day and age can we permit anyone to endorse killing and have Universities actually hire these people to come and talk. I wonder how many of them say these sort of disgusting things for no other reason then to stand out from the next speaker.
